After many attempts to install the driver software for MPC studio I keep getting a timeout error message which I hope can be solved. My machine is a Lenovo z50 with windows 8.1 and meets all requirements.
Midway through the install I am prompted to plug in my USB audio interface which is a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 but nothing happens until I get the error timeout message. I have followed the instructions to clean the registry, disable uac and shut down all apps but I still get the timeout message. Hi,Thanks for posting!This error shows up when the installer can't find the device. The installer is looking for the MPC Studio so it's asking you to plug it in, not the focusrite. Do you have the MPC Studio plugged in?Try disconnecting other USB peripherals, like the focusrite and make sure that your Studio is plugged directly into your computer, no USB hubs. Driver Installation Failed Error Code 0x103 Inf Path
I ran CHKINF on my.inf file, and it reported an error in its VERSION section (ClassGUID refers to a string variable rather than a GUID outright).Once I have that error fixed, then the driver is installed without any issue.So I suppose UpdateDriverForPlugAndPlayDevices does a sanity check on the driver before it installs anything. If the sanity check doesn't pass, it would just fail.Interestingly, my colleagues said that the installation worked fine on Windows 7 and 8. So I guess Windows 10 is more pedantic than the others.Given what's discussed in the StackExchange and my own finding, the moral of the story is this- When you see the error code 0x103 from UpdateDriverForPlugAndPlayDevices, check your INF file with CHKINF. Fixing the errors identified by CHKINF should get youover that particular error.
